Collection: Fishing Accessories

The terminal tackle that decides whether you lose the fish

Snaps, swivels, split rings and solid rings are the cheapest parts of the rig and the most common point of failure. This collection covers ball-bearing swivels with pointed snaps, flat and single split rings in 304 stainless, 8-shaped double-hole connectors, wire leaders with snap swivels, and spring-lock bait keepers — from size 0# for finesse work up to 12# for heavy offshore.

Item Size range Typical strength Use
Ball-bearing swivel + snap 0#–6# 10–80 kg jigs, spoons, trolling, stops line twist
Flat split ring (double layer) 0#–12# 8–60 kg hook replacement on lures, solid connection
8-shaped connector 1/0–3/0 20–50 kg jig to assist hook, quick swap
Wire leader + snap 15–30 cm 20–40 lb pike, barracuda, wahoo — bite-off protection

Where each one belongs

Ball-bearing swivel at the top of the leader kills the twist that a spinning jig or spoon puts into the line — without it, ten drops and the line is a coiled spring. Split rings replace hooks without cutting the lure's own ring; use double-layer flat rings on anything that sees big fish, because a single-turn ring opens under side load. Solid rings are for assist-hook rigs, where the cord is served onto the ring and the load is always in line. Wire leaders are non-negotiable in pike and wahoo water; 20–30 lb is enough for pike, 40 lb for barracuda teeth.

Sizing rule

Buy terminal tackle one size stronger than the line. If you fish PE 2 (about 12 kg), use a snap rated 15–20 kg: the weakest link should be the knot, not the hardware. In salt water, rinse and dry swivels after every trip — a seized bearing swivel stops swivelling and starts acting like a fixed ring, which is worse than having none.

Frequently asked questions

Snap or direct knot? A snap costs a little strength and saves a lot of time when you change jigs in a drift. For record-class fish, tie direct.

How do I open a split ring without damaging it? Use split-ring pliers and open along the coil, never sideways. A ring opened sideways never closes properly again.

Do I need a swivel on a slow pitch rig? Yes, at the top of the leader. Slow pitch jigs spin on the fall and will twist PE line badly over a full day.
